PECKHAM’S newest street food venue has officially opened its doors to the public, bringing an exciting new offering of food and entertainment to the area’s bustling high street.

To celebrate its highly anticipated launch, Market Place Peckham, which is located on Rye Lane, has revealed an impressive roster of events taking place over the course of the coming weeks.

On Thursday 20 July, the Market Place team has partnered with renowned jeweller Johnny Hoxton, for an exclusive night of fashion, food and fundraising for Soldiers of Creation, a charity which stands at the forefront of support for army veterans and their families.

Over the years, Johnny has made a name for himself for his fresh and iconic designs, which draw inspiration from the UK’s underground street scene. During the evening, he’ll be bringing a squad of DJs including Kurupt FM’s Danny Rankin, with attendees also able to get their hands on exclusive Jonny Hoxton pieces, as well as clothing from a one-of-a-kind fashion collaboration with Market Place vendors, Los Tacos.

Liam Monaghan, events, partnerships and acquisitions manager for Market Place, said: “Market Place is all about creating memorable experiences centred around great food and fantastic events. So, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our new Peckham location, than with a brilliant month of events. We’re launching Market Place Peckham with a bang, with an eclectic roster of quiz nights, bottomless brunches, DJ sets and fashion collabs, with something for all tastes.”

Other events taking place over the coming weeks include a pop-up with YouTube star Harry Pinero who will be launching his new project ‘We Are Winning’ on 22 July from 12pm-6pm, followed by a night of disco classics in collaboration with East London record label and event series, The Disco Express, from 6pm on the same day. There’ll also be an Afrobeats bottomless brunch on Saturday 29 July, with Detroit House music legend Marcellus Pittman flying in for a free show with the Disco Express later that evening. Meanwhile, Sunday 30 July will see a Love Island Finale watch-a-long and panel discussion with some of the loudest and most engaging Love Island voices from ‘Black Twitter’.

Located at Unit 10, The Aylesham Centre, Market Place Peckham features an eclectic variety of ten vendors offering a range of cuisines including Nigerian, Argentinian, Mexican and Hawaiian, with all dietary requirements catered for.

Its vendors include traditional Nigerian street food specialists Suya & Lobster, fresh and fun Mexican street food from Los Tacos; Hawaiian street food brand Huli Huli; BBC Million Pound Menu-winners and Indian inspired burger experts Baba G’s; Thai food specialists KraPow and famed artisan doughnut brand, Dum Dum Donutterie.

The new space features fresh and vibrant interiors, with Market Place’s signature aesthetic of cool neon signage and touches of foliage throughout.

Blake Henderson, managing director of Market Place, said: “For many years, Peckham has been a district at the helm of innovation and creativity, and is a place which will always be a particularly special one for Market Place. It’s fantastic to be able to open the doors to our new site here.

“We’ve got an exciting few weeks ahead, with lots of treats and surprises still to be revealed. Whether you want to get your hands on some of the best street food around, or check out music from some of the nation’s best DJs, you won’t want to sleep on Market Place Peckham this month.”

Launched by Market Place, the UK’s fastest growing street food brand, the new Market Place Peckham venue joins the team’s three other venues in Hounslow, Harrow and Vauxhall.

The new Peckham venue is wheelchair accessible and family and dog-friendly, with a juice bar, free WiFi and hot drinks to cater to the work-from-home professionals in the local area.

The venue’s opening times are 11.00am-11.30pm, Monday to Sunday.
