NewVIc work in partnership with Greenwich University supporting the up and coming EPQ (Extended Project Qualification).
The number of students taking up the EPQ is growing rapidly, it is estimated around 30,000 students took the EPQ recently and this is growing each year. Universities look positively at an EPQ and value its rigorous academic content and the vast amount of time taken to complete this project.
Greenwich University, currently the only London University that supports the EPQ, is working with NewVIc on a series of sessions for the college students. The sessions are aimed at committed and motivated first year students from both vocational and A Level curriculums. This project will improve student’s project management skills and improve students’ research skills.
The project will run until the end of the academic year with support from members of Greenwich University’seducation support team; helping students explore ideas and map methods of study. Students are encouraged to think of subjects that stand out and are different. It must be academically useful, either related to their current course of study, or their future career.
The EPQ is highly academic with scope for students to include practical and performance elements. The qualification is equivalent to half an A Level and carries 70 UCAS points for grade A*. NewVIc students will complete a production log as they study, write a report and give a presentation on their project.
