Enable, in partnership with Wandsworth Council is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2023 Active Wandsworth Awards.
The annual ceremony taking place on 1st March 2024, is hosted by reporter, journalist and Sky Sports TV presenter Emma Paton at The Civic Suite, Wandsworth.
The Active Wandsworth Awards will reflect on 2023 in recognising and rewarding the Wandsworth community for their talent, commitment and dedication in inspiring others to get active and stay active. In their 25 years the awards have recognised hundreds of amazing local people and crowned some exceptional athletes including Commonwealth Games winners Joaquin and Javier Bello, England rugby star Kyle Sinckler and Olympic athletes Katie Snowden and Steph Davis.
These awards celebrate the talented local sports people, coaches, volunteers, schools, organisations and clubs for their dedication and personal commitment to helping local people achieve their goals regardless of age, ability or financial situation. Over 200 people from the borough attend the evening; the nominees and their guests, local councillors and invitees from key Borough and London sporting organisations.
This year we are excited to announce a new category; the ‘Connecting Wandsworth Award’ which recognises projects that have improved residents’ health and wellbeing and strive to break down barriers, making physical activity and sport accessible and inclusive, connecting communities across Wandsworth.
Awards host, Emma Paton says, “These awards are important in recognising local people and organisations for their dedication and commitment. The work the organisations, clubs and individuals do connects people to sport and to each other in some hugely significant ways. It was fantastic to meet the inspirational winners and nominees last year and I am really looking forward to learning more about the amazing achievements of our 2023 contenders.”
