Notting Hill Carnival Launches T-Shirt Competition

Back for 2019, the official Notting Hill Carnival app is helping revellers to get around, connect and discover – without the need for wasteful lanyards or flyers. Developed in conjunction with app-developers Second Screen, the official Carnival app is the easiest way to navigate the Carnival, making the August Bank Holiday weekend an easier time for everyone involved. And now, it’s the only place to enter the brand new Carnival T-shirt competition.

Amateur and professional creators alike are invited to visit the official Notting Hill Carnival app and submit a design that embodies the hashtag #NHCIsMe. The winning design will feature on the back of this year’s official Carnival T-shirt. To enter, creators must upload a photograph of their design, with an accompanying explanation – of no more than 250 words. Carnival organisers encourage people to explore themes of how Carnival makes you feel, what is unique about it, and what the event means to you.

Entries will be exclusively accepted in the app, entrants must be aged over 16 and the deadline for entires is 1 July.

Second Screen CEO Niall Green, 25, said:

“We’re humbled to be working alongside Carnival again in 2019, and are looking forward to all the designs that the local communities will submit to the T-shirt competition. There’s no doubt in my mind that it will turn up some real local talent and we‘re thrilled to be hosting the designs in the app.”

Back for its second year, the app will again feature two maps for ease of navigation on Notting Hill Carnival weekend. One signposts nearest Toilets, First Aid points, Sound Systems, Bars and Stages, while the other tracks every single float on the parade route, in real-time. Find your way to a specific point on the route and better identify where you friends are through GPS-tracked maps.

All of the latest information will be sent out through push notifications, and users will also receive a push fifteen minutes ahead of an artist they have ‘favourited’ starting to play.

For the second time ever, the official Notting Hill Carnival app will allow the general public to have their say in the annual Panorama Steel Pan competition. Vote for your favourite in-app on the evening of the competition, taking place, as usual, on the Saturday before the Carnival begins.
