O2 is opening the first ever swim-up phone shop to allow people to switch networks whilst they’re on holiday so they can feel the benefit of no roaming fees in the EU.

This comes as overspending whilst abroad and unexpected expenses such as roaming fees has been revealed as the top worry for UK holidaymakers this year.

The “swim for sims” shop will give holidaymakers the chance to enjoy free roaming whilst abroad by providing them new O2 preloaded Pay as You Go Sims, so they avoid being hit with a bumper roaming bill. Not having roaming fees to worry about means one worry off the list this holiday season, especially considering 78% of holidaymakers see it as a necessary expense to fully enjoy their trip. 30% even noted that not having access to internet made them feel uncomfortable being spontaneous while abroad.

The shop opening follows the news that O2 is the only major UK network provider not to reintroduce roaming charges in the EU. Meanwhile, new research from O2 has found that a whopping 78% of holidaymakers said that despite the worry about mobile data costs in Europe, they see it as a necessary expense in order to fully enjoy their trip.

Former Love Island contestant Chloe Burrows will be unveiling the shop and will be on hand to serve customers and help people take and post their best holiday selfies to document their holiday.

The shop will be open to those visiting the Suites Del Lago hotel, Menorca on 29th July and customers will be given the pre-loaded sim cards for free.
