The FA has announced a return to grassroots football, the country continues to emerge from lockdown restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The re-start is hugely positive news and is potentially set to impact 1.4 million people and roughly 102,000* teams.
Following an announcement from the FA on Saturday, Powerleague has re-opened the vast majority of its football centres for friendly match bookings, with competitive league fixtures due to recommence at the beginning of August, in line with the FA’s guidelines.
Christian Rose, Powerleague CEO, says, “It is wonderful to have football back in our clubs across the country and in the communities that we serve. It will do wonders for the country’s physical fitness and mental well-being and we are delighted to be back!”
A number of additional health and safety guidelines have been put in place for players, referees, coaches and staff, including regular disinfecting of the ball and pitches, social distancing measures for spectators, contactless payments and curbs on handshakes.
