PRINCE Harry has “married his mother” and the couple’s charitable work is a “royal farce”, historian David Starkey has claimed.

In an interview with GB News about the UK visit of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during Breakfast with Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster, he said: “Harry’s married his mother.

“I’m told, and being gay I don’t quite understand these things, I’m told a lot of chaps get themselves into this kind of situation.

“Unfortunately, she’s all Diana’s bad aspects and none of the good ones.

“The charities are utterly synthetic. Diana’s charities were real and Diana took real risks in doing it.”

He added: “Even Meghan’s resentment of the monarchy is synthetic, as is the whole behaviour of Harry.

“If we say that she’s trying to replay Diana, I’m afraid we are reminded of Karl Marx: history first is tragedy, with Diana and then I’m afraid it is farce with Meghan and Harry

“It’s a royal farce and I think the British on the whole, we’re quite good at taking farces. We see it as a farce. We don’t take it terribly seriously.”

Asked if Meghan and Harry should be completely cut off from the royal family, Mr Starkey said: “Well, William, I think without a second thought would do it.

“William is turning out to be surprisingly ruthless, which is, again, a little bit like the Queen, though of course, even the Queen has this terrible soft spot for Andrew.

“They’re all family. It is [an] enormous difficulty that when you have family relationships that are turned into political dramas, but then of course let’s go back to Boris.

“One of the things that destroyed his premiership was his last marriage to Carrie Johnson.”

He added: “It is quite clear that the tensions that were created by that marriage, the fact that…everybody called her Carrie Antoinette.

“I think she’s Carrie Boleyn, she’s much nearer to Anne Boleyn, a directly political wife, and that produces the most terrible, terrible tensions.”
