There’s not much time till another event paves the path to the PUBG Global Championship for players! Fans that got a breather since the conclusion of Phase 1, are guessing the odds for their teams that already got into the list of participants. Significance
PGS 2 will be the first event under the new Standard and Universal PUBG Esports Ruleset (that has a very catchy abbreviation: SUPER) 2023. It will also be the first tournament that has matches on the Taego map.
It is the second key event in the PUBG eSports 2023 Competitive Season. Phase 2 has the S tier in the Liquipedia classification. The tournament features 24 best-of-the-best teams that get an entry through the Closed Qualifiers that replaced Regional Leagues.

South Korea and China are the most wide-represented countries in this tournament. The commands that are already on the list of participants are skilled players and dangerous rivals: for instance, 17 Gaming won Phase 1 and took second place in the Global Championship 2022.

Set-up and layout
2023 PGS Phase 2 is an offline event that will take place in the capital of Saudi Arabia: the city of Riyadh. The event’s organizers are PUBG Corporation and Gamers8, with the latter providing a venue.
The matches are played on PCs, of course—PUBG Mobile is a separate eSports discipline with its own schedule. The game mode is Squads FPP.
Format
PGS 2 outline is divided into three stages:
- Group stage, from August 10th to August 12th, with 3 groups of 8 teams playing against each other on the round-robin system. The team’s placement at the end of the stages will depend on all matches. Leading 16 teams will proceed to the Winners Bracket, other—to the Losers Bracket.
- Bracket stage lasts four days, August 13th–16th. In both Winners and Losers Brackets the teams play 12 matches in 2 days. The top 8 teams from the Winners advance to the Grand Finals, and outsiders downgrade to Losers. 8 leaders from the Losers Bracket go to the Grand Finals, and others are eliminated from the tournament.
- Grand Finals start at August 18th and last 2 days as well. There will be 18 matches, and the winner gets the title of PGS 2 Champion.
Prize pool
The participants are going to battle for $2,000,000 and 1200 PGS Points distributed as follows:
- 1st place: 300 PGS Points
- 2nd: 180
- 3rd: 145
- 4th: 120
- 5th: 95
- 6th: 70
- 7th: 60
- 8th: 50
- 9th and 10th: 35 each
- 11th and 12th: 30 each
- 13th and 14th: 15 each
- 15th and 16th: 10 each
Conclusion
2023 PGS 2, starting on August, 10th, will last 11 days. 24 qualified teams are going to fight for $2,000,000 and 1200 PGS Points granting entries to the 2023 Global Championship. The competition will take place in Saudi Arabia, at Gamers8 venue.
The tournament is the first to occur under the new regulations and to feature the Taego map, so we are surely in for an exciting and refreshing experience!
