Singletons across the UK are adjusting to dating life in lockdown, whether that’s indulging in endless swiping, virtual date nights or taking a break from dating altogether.
With the prospect of face-to-face dates still subject to strict social distancing rules, neighbourhood operator Get Living is helping singletons embrace a new way of dating by hosting a virtual speed dating event.
The sessions, being held on Friday 29 May, are designed to matchmake those living in London’s East Village E20 neighbourhood – the former Athletes’ Village for London 2012 – and Elephant Central in SE1, but those in the nearby area are encouraged to take part.
It’s the perfect chance to get changed into something other than slippers and trackies and check you haven’t lost your first date prowess.
Get Living will be hosting two separate sessions, one for heterosexual potential couples, as well as one for the LGBTQ+ community.
Both Zoom sessions will be introduced by a host before couple are paired off via breakout rooms for a speedy three-minute ‘get to know’ each other session before reporting back to the host and discovering any matches.
Both events are free to attend and just require you to register via Eventbrite.
Get Living’s events manager, Eoin Thomas, said: “We’re really missing putting on events where our residents can come together and mingle and have been working hard over the past few months to bring that sense of community online with a variety of virtual events.
“We’re hoping to make lockdown less lonely for our residents with these fun speed dating Zooms. It’s just the latest in a series of light-hearted initiatives to help our residents get through this difficult time.”
