The Royal Borough of Greenwich is honoured to win awards in three different categories for this year’s London in Bloom competition.

The London in Bloom campaign recognises local authorities, parks, friends of parks and community groups, and schools across the capital for working to make areas safer, cleaner, greener and an all-round better place to be.

This year, parks and outdoor spaces in Royal Greenwich were represented across three separate categories:
Royal Borough of Greenwich | Gold award in City category
Well Hall Pleasaunce | Silver Gilt award in Large Park category
Eltham Crematorium | Silver Gilt award in the Cemetery or Crematorium category
The Royal Borough of Greenwich and Well Hall Pleasaunce have participated for a number of years and retained these prestigious award statuses since 2020. Eltham Crematorium won the Silver Gilt award for the first time in 2022. Well Hall Pleasaunce and Eltham Crematorium also won Green Flag Awards in July alongside 11 other parks in the borough.

Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities, said: “I am so proud of our green spaces and our borough as a whole for winning London in Bloom awards again. London in Bloom’s mission aligns so closely with Royal Greenwich’s goals to make the borough vibrant, safe and green, so to be recognised by them is an honour. Being able to provide visitors and residents with free, clean, accessible spaces is so important to us to help support them in living good, healthy lives.

“Keeping our three award statuses from last year and being awarded gold and silver gilt in the City and Large Park categories for the fourth year in a row speaks to the dedication of our parks team. This would not be possible without the hard work of the parks team, friends of parks and community groups. A big thank you and congratulations to all who contribute towards maintaining our parks and outdoor spaces to award-winning standards!”

Royal Greenwich is home to over 100 parks and outdoor spaces, all with different attractions to offer.
