Pupils from The Pioneer Academy trust were delighted to be joined by Australian international and Millwall footballer, Massimo Luongo, at their football finals recently.

Massimo Luongo visited pupils at The Pioneer Academy’s football finals at Southborough Primary School last month and presented trophies and medals.

The winners from five regions across The Pioneer Academy came together to compete and have fun.

The winning girls’ team was from Southborough Primary School and the winning boys’ team was from Stewart Fleming Primary School – meaning that both winning teams were from Bromley.

Luke Kimberley, Head of PE at The Pioneer Academy, said:

“We are very grateful to Massimo Luongo for making this such a special event for all our pupils.

“Congratulations to Southborough and Stewart Fleming and thank you to everyone who took part and supported. Encouraging both girls and boys to take part in extracurricular sports is so important, helping them to develop team working skills as well as their confidence.”

Lee Mason-Ellis OBE, CEO at The Pioneer Academy Trust, said:

“Trust-wide sports tournaments are brilliant opportunities for our pupils to work together as a team. We are really thankful to Massimo Luongo for making this a day to remember for everyone.

“It is always brilliant to see our pupils celebrating together, being active and having fun outside.

“At The Pioneer Academy, we are committed to increasing the sporting opportunities on offer for all our children.”
