Around 50 jobs are to be created in Kingston after an expanding national builders merchant unveiled plans to open a new branch in the area.
Selco Builders Warehouse will be based on St George’s Industrial Estate on Richmond Road, with the doors due to open in November.
Selco’s recruitment will cover a wide variety of positions, with virtually all the jobs expected to be awarded to people from the local area.
The business has undergone a major expansion programme over the last five years, virtually doubling the size of its branch network across the UK.
Howard Luft, chief executive of Selco Builders Warehouse, said: “This will take our number of branches across the UK to 67 and we would expect that number to continue to rise further in the future.
“We have a very strong presence in London and the south east and we are delighted to open another branch to serve professional tradespeople”
Mr Luft confirmed that the branch opening would create job opportunities for the local community.
He added: “Our recruitment policy has always been to employ people from the area the branch is situated in – and that is continuing in Kingston.
“We want to offer people genuine career opportunities and the chance to climb through the ranks at Selco.
“The branch will also provide a further boost to tradespeople, as they will have a greater chance to enjoy the benefits Selco provides – unrivalled availability, with the widest range of products in stock, as well as ever-expanding online and digital services, excellent customer service and trade prices.”
With hundreds of trade brands always in stock and open seven days and for a minimum of 80 hours per week, Selco’s UK branches are firmly focused on helping tradespeople complete their jobs as quickly and effectively as possible.
