London-based drum and bass pioneer, Shy FX, has gone back to his roots to put his spin on Becky Hill’s ‘Disconnect’, adding an entirely new horn section to ensure that his remix is the perfect timely fit ahead of Notting Hill Carnival.

With the Chase & Status produced original catapulting Becky Hill’s inimitable vocals to the forefront of club music again, Shy FX has rebuilt the track from the ground up, putting Becky’s powerful top line centre stage. Supported by his signature crisp percussion and a horn arrangement that adds a healthy summer flavour to proceedings.

Of the remix, Becky says, “I’ve been a huge fan of Shy FX since I was young, and this remix is classic Shy. I’m honoured to have one of the greats add to this DnB ‘Disconnect’ story”.

Recorded live in the studio especially for this remix, the brass section brings the remix to life and adds a distinctly analogue feel to the track, amplifying Becky’s vocals and reminding us just how versatile her voice can be. A decade on from her iconic collaboration with Wilkinson on “Afterglow”, her innate connection to electronic music has seen Becky Hill working with iconic producers including MK, Oliver Heldens and David Guetta.

‘Disconnect’ – her 6th Top 10 hit to date – represents a return to the genre that helped break her career with the full support of drum and bass legends, Chase & Status. If the original version of ‘Disconnect’ was designed for the club, the Shy FX remix is for the after party, the pre-party, and every outdoor summer festival set in-between.
