Following the loss of its long-term home a few months ago, Dads House – a charity which supports single fathers with the practicalities of raising their children alone – are thrilled to announce they will be setting up a temporary London hub in the former Southwark Works space, in the Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre.

Launching later this summer, the announcement of the new Dads House London outpost comes as the team gets ready to mark the second ever annual National Single Parents Day, today, Wednesday 3 July. Dads House will be visiting Speaker’s House in Westminster for a celebration lunch, hosted by Rupa Huq MP and Lord Balfe. At the event, the charity’s founder, William McGranaghan, will be presented with an award in recognition of the support Dads House provides single dads.

The new drop-in space at the Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre will offer various support to single fathers. This will range from a cup of tea and a friendly chat, to family law advice surgeries, cooking classes, Saturday morning Dads and kids breakfast clubs and many other sources of help and advice as well as fun social activities.

William McGranaghan, Founder of Dads House commented:

“Opening in Elephant and Castle is a key step towards our 5 year plan to have Dads House branches across the UK, enabling us to help and support as many single fathers as possible.

“In London alone there are 20,000 dads who are the main carers for their children and this number is rising. We can’t wait to open our doors at the Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre and continue bringing together dads to share their experiences and receive practical and emotional support. We were so worried when we lost our last premises and are grateful that we now have somewhere to help us continue our work.”
