Specsavers Hammersmith continues to support its local community – with safety in mind

Specsavers Hammersmith has played a key role in caring for people’s eye care and hearing health throughout the duration of the Covid-19 pandemic, with the team being on hand to offer on-going day to day support to the local community.

During September and October, Specsavers Hammersmith is offering its customers a discounted eye test of just £10, normally this would cost £25, so it’s a great saving for those people who may be on a tighter budget. The offer also encourages as many people as possible to book in for their regular eye test, which is important, as the tests can show the general health condition of the individual, and can also reveal potential underlying health issues, so keeping that appointment is key.

You can also book an OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scan, at a cost of just £10. This diagnostic equipment is hospital grade and provides a detailed structural image of the eye. The OCT scan uses light to take more than 1,000 images of the back of the eye and beyond, looking at the optic nerve and creating a cross-sectional view. Specsavers Hammersmith can then store each customer’s OCT images and reference them to monitor any changes that may take place over a period of time, offering a real benefit to customer’s ongoing eye health.

For those keen cyclists who may be commuting to work or riding for fitness and leisure and travelling on the newly opened Hammersmith Bridge, it’s especially important to be able to see clearly and to hear what’s going on around them, and is an important aspect in keeping them safe, especially when cycling on the busy streets across the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

If you are due to have your two yearly eye test check-up, you can take advantage of the discounted price of just £10 for the rest of September and October.  For those customers requiring a new prescription, the store has a diverse range of frames that will appeal to all budgets. So if you want to splash out on a pair of designer frames you can choose from Marc Jacobs, DKNY, Kylie Minogue Superdry, Viktor & Rolf and many more. Alternatively if your budget is more restrained, then we also stock a wide range of frames that reflect the personal style of our customers.

To help you choose the frame that is most suited to you, we recommend the Specsavers Frame Styler app. It works by using facial analysis to scan the shape of your face and features, and then suggests a short list of styles and colours that are most suited to your individual features, from discreet to statement frames. Or as Specsavers likes to call them; ‘Whisper’, ‘Talk’, and ‘Shout’

Safety is of paramount importance and the store has put in place various measures, including restrictions on the number of customers allowed in store at any one-time, social distancing, and bank card transactions instead of cash payments, wherever possible.

In addition, the Specsavers Hammersmith team wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including face masks and other PPE during tests. All of the testing equipment and frames are thoroughly sanitised before and after each use. Customers are also asked to request an appointment in advance by phone or online through the Specsavers website to help manage social distancing and minimise time spent in store.

Specsavers Hammersmith offers a wide range of services including:

  • Comprehensive eye examinations
  • Home eye examinations for people with a physical or mental disability who are unable to leave their home
  • Contact lens consultations
  • Enhanced optical services for people experiencing any eye problems
  • Frame repairs and the provision of new glasses
  • Purchase of vision care products, such as an anti-fog lens solution for glasses wearers through to dry eye drops

Nimesh Maisuria, Optometrist Director said; ‘We look forward to seeing our customers, and we want to assure you that we have put everything in place to uphold your safety whilst in store. It is important that customers attend their appointments to ensure their eye and hearing health is not at risk.’
