Students at St Mark’s Church of England Academy in Mitcham, part of Anthem Schools Trust, are celebrating after receiving their A Level and BTEC results, marking an important milestone in their educational journey.
Young people across the country are also collecting their results following the summer exam period, with many now preparing to progress to university, apprenticeships, further training, or employment.
Students at St Mark’s have achieved excellent outcomes and are celebrating their successes alongside sixth formers across the country.
This year there has been an increase in the number of A and A* grades obtained at St Mark’s with 19 grades being awarded at either A or A*. Maths A Level was a particular highlight achieving 2 A* and 5 A grades. Similarly, there was also an increase in the number of B grades obtained, with 53 awarded. This includes Chemistry where 75% of students achieved a B grade or higher.
Vocational outcomes were a particular strength this academic year with 85% of grades being awarded at Merit or higher. This is a 4% increase on the previous year’s results. This includes 43 grades at Distinction or Distinction*. This is a 4% increase to 43% at this grade threshold from the 2025 summer results. Notable performances were seen in BTEC IT, Health and Social Care and CTEC Sport which all achieved an average grade of Distinction.
Among the high performers/special mentions are:
Senul Wijayaratne – A*Maths, A* Biology and A in Chemistry. He plans to take a gap year before studying medicine at university.
Steven Webb – A* Maths, A Chemistry, A physics and B Biology – will be studying Mathematics at Exeter University.
Lydia Matrindale – A Maths, A Art, B Physics, C Music – going to Oxford University to study Music
Marina Kemoh – A Law, A Maths, A psychology – will be studying law at Warwick University.
Ryan Grant – Di* CTEC Sport, A History, B Maths – will attend King’s College London to study Sports and Exercise/Medical Science.
Joanna Martindale – A Computer Science, A Maths, B Physics – will be undertaking a degree apprenticeship in engineering with CBRE.
Christopher Williams – Di BTEC Business, Di BTEC Health and Social Care, Di BTEC IT – will be undertaking a year in industry whilst pursuing degree apprenticeships.
