Standard Chartered today announced that the Standard Chartered Great City Race 2026 has officially sold out ahead of its return to the City of London on 21 July 2026. Now in its 21st year, the iconic 5km event will welcome thousands of participants from businesses across London and beyond for a day of friendly competition, networking and fundraising. The race generated more than USD83,000 for the Standard Chartered Foundation in 2025, with this year’s event set to build on that success.
At the heart of the event is Standard Chartered’s commitment to tackling inequality through the Standard Chartered Foundation. One third of every participant’s entry fee will be donated to the Foundation, helping fund programmes that support education, employability and entrepreneurship for young people globally. Standard Chartered will also match funds raised, doubling the impact of participants’ efforts.
Alongside the opportunity to raise funds, participants will compete for prizes and look to break the coveted 14-minute mark, the time to beat in this year’s race. The top three male and female finishers will receive sports clothing prize vouchers while teams will also compete for sector awards across the banking, insurance, legal and accountancy industries.
This year’s race will feature special appearances from Liverpool FC Legends Glen Johnson and Gilly Flaherty, who will be on hand to meet participants, support runners and help celebrate another year of fundraising and community impact.
Sarah Hagan, Co-head, Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing at Standard Chartered said: “The Standard Chartered Great City Race is a fantastic example of the power of connection in action. Every year, it brings together our clients, partners and communities from across London to support a common cause and make a real difference. Running has a unique ability to unite people, and as a bank that connects people, markets and opportunities across the world, that resonates deeply with us. It’s wonderful to see such strong support for the Standard Chartered Foundation, and the fact that the race has sold out again speaks volumes about the enthusiasm, generosity, and community spirit behind this event.”
Organised by London Marathon Events, the event starts and finishes at the Honourable Artillery Company Grounds. The fast, closed-road course takes participants through the heart of the City of London, passing some of the capital’s most recognisable landmarks, including St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower 42, and the Bank of England. The event has become a fixture of the City calendar, attracting teams from across the banking, legal, insurance and corporate sectors.
The Standard Chartered Great City Race continues to demonstrate how the corporate community can come together to make a tangible difference, while encouraging healthier, more connected workplaces across London.
