Subway® has announced its partnership with the CC Foundation for its annual Turkey Drive. As part of Subway’s wider ‘Sub You’ cost-saving campaign, the popular high street sandwich brand has donated £80,000 to the foundation to help towards giving away 7,000 free turkeys to communities in need in 10 drop locations around the UK and Ireland.
Starting on the 20th of December in London, Subway and the CC Foundation will go on to spread festive joy in Birmingham, Cambridge, Sheffield, Manchester, Dublin and Glasgow.
During the Turkey Drive events in London, Manchester, Dublin and Glasgow, Subway is also handing out a total of 1,200 festive cards with a promo code inside for a free Footlong Sub, redeemable via the Subway App.
Founded in 2020, the CC Foundation’s Turkey Drive is an annual community give-back initiative, supporting families and individuals by providing what is often the ‘most expensive’ part of their festive meal. The drive started as a local Lewisham activity by rapper Fekky and his team at the CC Foundation and has quickly grown into a cross-country community tour, from Manchester to Bristol and everywhere in between. In previous years, the CC foundation has received support from high-profile celebrities such as Ed Sheeran, Raheem Sterling, and Anthony Joshua.
Subway’s involvement comes amid research revealing over a fifth of the nation (21%) is having to cut down on eating healthy meals and eating fresh produce (24%) due to the cost-of-living crisis, citing that it’s cheaper to eat unhealthily (24%).
This year, comedian and TV personality Judi Love, who has partnered with Subway to give the nation what it wants; savings on quick-service, healthy and nutritious meals, and to make their cash go that bit further when it counts most, will also be supporting the brand as part of its wider Sub You campaign, which raises awareness of the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on households across the UK and Ireland. Sub You also includes Subway’s partnership with FareShare, where from 13th – 24th December, Subway will donate £1 from every Festive Menu item purchased* to FareShare, the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and tackling food waste.
Just £1 helps FareShare redistribute the equivalent of four meals to those in need and with Subway’s donation they can provide 800,000 meals*.
Fekky, Founder of CC Foundation, commented “We are proud of how many communities we have been able to support in previous years, but for 2022, we’re going bigger with the help of Subway®. We partner with brands who align with our ethos and the support we have received from Subway® means we will be able to reach so many more families that are struggling this festive season”.
Angelina Gosal, Head of Marketing UK & Ireland at Subway® expressed “We have a lot of admiration for what Fekky and the CC foundation have been able to achieve over the past two years and we are delighted to be able to support them in expanding their annual Turkey Drive. Subway® knows times are tough at the moment, especially over the festive period. We are committed to supporting local communities and are excited about our partnership with CC foundation”.
