Tesco is bringing a giant Fruity Pick ‘n’ Mix to London’s Southbank, encouraging grown-ups to choose a healthier snack while tapping into a sense of nostalgia, fun and childhood joy.
The playful pop-up is launching to celebrate the expansion of Tesco’s Free Fruit & Veg for Schools programme to 1,000 schools, giving passers-by the chance to choose a piece of fresh fruit or veg for free – from crisp apples and juicy oranges to colourful peppers and creamy avocados.
To sweeten the deal, the first 100 passersby will take home an exclusive Tesco fruit and veg plushie alongside their tasty snack.
Designed to look like a giant classic pick ‘n’ mix bag but supersized, the eye-catching blue and white structure will be popping up on London’s Southbank on Wednesday 16 September from 8:30am to 6pm, offering a nostalgic reminder of the simple joys of school snack time.
Fruity Pick ‘n’ Mix marks the third year of Tesco’s Free Fruit & Veg for Schools programme, which provides funding to schools with higher-than-average proportions of pupils eligible for free school meals, in partnership with the British Nutrition Foundation.
Since launching in October 2024, the programme has provided almost 20 million free portions of fruit and vegetables to children across the UK, helping pupils discover everything from familiar favourites to less everyday produce such as blueberries, watermelon and asparagus.
