*** FREE FOR EDITORIAL USE *** The new ‘Eyeconic London Art Trail’ is now open! As part of Sadiq Khan’s #LetsDoLondon Family Fun season, inflatable eyes will pop up in ‘eye-conic’ spots around the city - inviting families from across London and the UK to ‘see London differently’.

With summer holidays in full swing and parents constantly on the look-out for fun and engaging activities for the whole family, the new ‘Eyeconic London Art Trail’ should definitely be added to the list of things to do.

As part of Sadiq Khan’s #LetsDoLondon Family Fun season, which invites families from across the nation to spend their school holidays in Britain’s biggest playground this summer, the Mayor of London is launching a new outdoor art trail for families to enjoy.

Located in ‘eye-conic’ spots around the city – such as St Paul’s Cathedral, the Museum of London, the Old Vic Theatre, Portobello & Golborne Road Market, Tottenham Court Road and more – inflatable eyes have appeared in trees, inviting families from across London and the UK to ‘see London differently’.
Justine Simons OBE, London’s Deputy Mayor for Culture & the Creative Industries, says “We are really excited to open the new Eyeconic London Art Trail to families throughout the summer, bringing more fun and imagination to our already wonderful city.

One of the reasons people love exploring London so much is because it’s a city full of art and wonder, and these inflatable eyes are just another way to celebrate its natural beauty and encourage everyone to get out and explore!”

Luke Egan, Director of Designs in Air, says “Sticking giant inflatable eyes on trees grants each a unique character. It hints at the stories they could tell after decades, even centuries as silent observers of a city whose evolution they have witnessed first-hand.

“The eyes make an instant impact yet can disappear without a trace and we hope they inspire people to look up, have an unexpected chuckle, and see London in a new light.”

Kat Varah, Director of the Old Vic Theatre, says “The Old Vic is delighted to be supporting this campaign to encourage families to explore the capital this summer. As London’s world class cultural institutions begin to open up, it’s more important than ever for people to get out there and rediscover what the city has to offer.”

Sandra Lynes Timbrell, Director of Visitor Engagement at St Paul’s Cathedral, says “There is so much to see and do across London this summer. Here at St Paul’s, we can’t wait to welcome families from London and across the UK to discover the treasures and hidden history inside one of London’s most eyeconic sites. Now is a perfect time for families to visit St Paul’s as ‘Kids Go Free’ runs until 4 September 2021.”

Families can discover the inflatable eyes, and all the great experiences that London has to offer, but they’ll need to be quick as the eyes will be available until the end of August.

Head to the Visit London app to learn more about the trail and find all the eyes around London. Don’t forget to share your best snap using #LetsDoLondon on social.
