The UK’s first ever Ale B&B has arrived in London

The UK’s first ever Ale B&B has arrived London this week, offering punters an icy experience like no other – a five-foot frozen igloo, complete with LICKABLE beer walls.

The frozen structure is big enough to accommodate two adults, and is made up of icy blocks containing over 1,000 litres of refreshing frozen ale – giving customers the chance to literally TASTE the walls.

Located on the banks of the river Thames overlooking the iconic St Paul’s Cathedral, the unique igloo experience also offers sleeping bags, hand warmers, scarves and gloves for cosy customers to snuggle up in comfort and enjoy a refreshing bottle of the newly-launched drink.

Beer lovers in the capital will be treated to an unlimited supply of the new ale during their stay, either bottled, or enjoyed directly from the icy walls of the domed structure.

The Ale B&B has been unveiled at the Anchor Bankside pub in Southwark to celebrate the launch of Greene King’s new pale ale, Ice Breaker, but punters will need to be quick to check it out for themselves, as it will only be open to the public for a limited time…until it melts.

Matt Starbuck, managing director of Greene King, said: “There are a multitude of quirky and unusual B&B stays available in the UK at the moment, but we’ve never seen a real frozen igloo, particularly one where the walls are made from beer.

“Our Ale B&B is the perfect place to cosy up with a friend or loved one and enjoy an ale-tasting experience like no other…and we can certainly guarantee the coldest beer you’ll find in the capital.

“This is the first ale igloo we’ve launched to date, and if it’s successful, we might even roll it out to our pubs up and down the country – it could be the ideal overnight stay for people who don’t fancy getting a taxi home at closing time!”

For anyone not brave enough to stay in the Ale B&B, the new Ice Breaker pale ale is available at over 180 pubs across London now. To find your nearest Greene King pub, visit
