Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Harry Winks, Hugo Lloris and Lucas Moura are amongst some of the Tottenham Hotspur first team players to have joined forces with former Dr Who, Peter Capaldi, to raise £500,000 to support one of the UK’s leading children’s charities and their Official Charity Partner, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, who are supporting children hit hard by the pandemic. The campaign will launch on Friday 24th July and will complete on the final day of the football season, Sunday 26th July.
The fundraising campaign comes at a time when the hospice is facing its biggest ever challenge. Due to the coronavirus crisis, Noah’s Ark is experiencing an all-time peak in demand for its services to care for seriously unwell babies and children. The demand is so great that the charity now requires £500,000 to recruit enough nurses and carers to meet the needs of children and families in north and central London. The charity’s In-Patient Unit opened during the COVID crisis and the charity needs to maintain this vital service whilst also re-starting care for children in their homes, many of whom have been shielding for months. In order to provide care both in the charity’s hospice building, The Ark, and within the community, the charity needs to significantly bolster its team of nurses and carers; costing at least £500,000.
A new song has been written to launch the fundraising campaign. Penned by scriptwriter Ivor Baddiel, scored by composer Erran Baron-Cohen and narrated by actor Peter Capaldi, it follows the unmistakable tune of The Animals Went in Two by Two. Capaldi’s distinctive Scottish lilt is elevating, with his narration veering between spoken and sung. The accompanying video shows the Spurs players getting involved with Noah’s Ark activities during the long-term partnership, with Harry Kane doing the ironing, Dele Alli assisting a young man in the classroom and Hugo Lloris opening up the hospice’s new building.
Actor, Peter Capaldi, says:
“Noah’s Ark provides the most wonderful care for babies and children in great need. I hope with all my heart that this campaign raises the funds needed to support those relying on the charity”.
Hugo Lloris, Tottenham Hotspur captain says:
“Noah’s Ark is an incredible charity and I have seen first-hand the amazing work they do for seriously unwell babies and children.
“We’re proud to support them and to be part of this campaign at what is a very difficult time. We encourage anyone that is able to make a small donation to please do so – it will make a huge difference to so many families in our local community.”
