From the moment that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement, there has been speculation about how they will spend their wedding day, including reports of a tour around Windsor in an Ascot Landau carriage before a lavish lunchtime reception at St George’s Hall and evening reception at Frogmore House.

But shoppers and tourists got a surprise when the royal ‘newly-weds’ appeared to celebrate their nuptials with an open top bus ride around the town and a wedding breakfast at a local Wetherspoon pub called The King and Castle.

The blushing bride wore a classic off the shoulder white dress from with a train while the groom wore a blue suit, all from. But rather than commissioning a famous designer or visiting Savile Row, the wedding outfits were plucked from the rails of a local Barnardo’s store, with the wedding dress costing just £79.99 – a fraction of the price expected to be paid for Meghan’s actual dress – while the groom’s outfit came to less than £60.
