Uxbridge-based employees at Mondelēz International have selected Cancer Support UK to receive a donation of £5,000.

Providing practical and emotional support to people living with cancer both during and after the treatment period, the charity has been granted the substantial figure from The Cadbury Foundation, as part of its ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ initiative.

Every year, all Mondelēz International UK employees are invited to nominate wellbeing-related charities or projects close to their hearts to receive a large donation, with the final shortlisted charities up for vote amongst fellow colleagues.

Cancer Support UK supports people with all types of cancer across the UK, with a range of services, which are specially designed and delivered by people who have first-hand experience of the disease, ensuring the people it helps are supported appropriately and effectively. The £5,000 donation will help the small charity continue to support individuals over the age of 18 recovering from cancer through its free Cancer Coach sessions. Cancer patients undergoing treatment also receive ‘Cancer kits’ which provides practical and handy items that they will find useful during their treatment.

The Uxbridge site nominated Cancer Support UK having seen the work it does first-hand, following the support Mondelēz International colleague, Rebecca Bentinck has received since finishing her treatment.

Commenting on the £5,000 donation, Rebecca said: “I am extremely grateful to my colleagues at Mondelēz International for making this substantial donation possible. This grant from The Cadbury Foundation will allow the charity to continue supporting people who have come through Cancer. The support Cancer Support UK offers is invaluable and truly helps you move forward with your life, to realise that you are not alone on your journey.”

Charlotte Poulter, Cancer Coach Head of Service at Cancer Support UK, commented: “This incredibly generous donation will enable us to support people and ensure that nobody faces cancer alone. We’re extremely thankful to The Cadbury Foundation for their contribution. The grant will make a real difference to the people across the UK who we support both during and after the treatment period.”

The Cadbury Foundation was set up in 1935 in recognition of Richard and George Cadbury and their investment in the welfare of their employees and the local community. Across all Mondelēz International UK sites, £65,000 has been donated to charities, projects and clubs across the country as part its ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme.

Kelly Farrell, community affairs manager at Mondelēz International, said: “Being able to support fantastic charities like Cancer Support UK through our ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ initiative is something we’re so proud to be able to do each year.

We’re pleased to know that with The Cadbury Foundation’s support, the charity can continue delivering its vital services that helps reduce isolation and loneliness to thousands of people across the UK.”
