MP for Ealing and Southall, Virendra Sharma MP, praised mental health nurses for their ‘dedication and hard work’, as he kicked off Mental Health Awareness Week (13-19 May) with a visit to West London NHS Trust’s 24/7 Helpline.

The Single Point of Access (SPA) received a staggering 60,782 calls for the year between April 2018 and March 2019. Their workforce is 25-strong with dedicated mental health advisers and nurses at hand to ensure people across west London are safe and in the right hands.

Sarah Rushton, West London NHS Trust’s Director of Local Services, who oversees the Helpline, says: “The SPA delivers a vital service across west London. Our mental health nurses and advisers go above and beyond, to ensure those they communicate with are listened to and supported, to begin their recovery.”

Virendra Sharma MP comments: “It has been a real pleasure visiting West London NHS Trust’s Helpline. It is a privilege to see the dedication and hard work by their mental health nurses and advisers, in order to keep people in Ealing, Southall and beyond, safe and on the right track. Living with any mental health condition must not be underestimated and it is important that those in need know that there are services like the SPA that can provide support, around the clock.”
