Oxfam Earlsfield will bring South West London’s community spirit to the catwalk this May with the return of its annual Fashion Show, a community-led celebration of style, sustainability and local action, with a vintage twist.
Now in its fourth year, the event is being organised by Oxfam Earlsfield in collaboration with The Horn Runway and hosted by The Home Community Cafe SW18. At its core is a simple idea: fashion can bring people together, and clothes with history still have plenty to say.
The show will feature professionally styled looks built from donated vintage pieces dating from the 1940s through to the early 2000s, each one chosen to reflect the character, longevity and lived story of preloved clothing. The catwalk will feature a mix of professional models and community members, reflecting the event’s wider purpose as a grassroots celebration shaped by the community itself.
What sets the evening apart is the work happening behind the scenes. The event has been entirely built by local volunteers, stylists and supporters who have come together to curate outfits, organise the show and create an event rooted in Earlsfield’s own creativity and generosity.
Alongside the vintage showcase, the evening will also spotlight designer Andreia Marques, bringing together local fashion energy, independent design and second-hand style under one roof.
Robin Brereton, Shop Manager at Oxfam Earlsfield, said: “This fashion show is about much more than clothes. It is about what a community can build when people come together around a shared purpose. Earlsfield has once again shown its generosity, creativity and belief in a better kind of fashion, one that values reuse, individuality and collective action. To see volunteers sharing the stage with professional models says everything about the spirit of this event.”
The show forms part of Oxfam’s nationwide Vintage campaign, which encourages people to shop preloved and donate unwanted clothing in order to reduce textile waste and support Oxfam’s humanitarian and development work around the world.
The evening will also support local causes. Entry is free, with guests encouraged to donate to Earlsfield Food Bank and support The Home Community Cafe SW18 through purchases on the night, helping sustain future community projects.
Oxfam Earlsfield’s local impact is already significant. Last year, the shop raised more than £87,000 through sales and donations, showing how a small local shop can deliver meaningful support both within the community and far beyond it.
Following the show, guests are invited to continue the evening at an afterparty at The Halfway House pub, celebrating local creativity, sustainable style and the community effort behind the event.
