Staff and students at Floreat Wandsworth Primary School and Nursery have welcomed new GLF Schools CEO Warwick Sharp on one of his first school visits since starting in his role this week.

GLF Schools is one of the largest multi-academy trusts in the country, with a total of 43 schools, many in South London and Surrey.

He began his career as a secondary school teacher before moving into government and a role at the Department for Education, where he became Principal Private Secretary to three successive Education Secretaries.

He later served as Interim CEO of the Education and Skills Funding Agency and led school financial support and oversight between 2020 and 2023, overseeing the agency’s work with thousands of schools across England.

Most recently, he served as Director of Strategy and Delivery at the Department for Education, where he led on overall strategic direction, legislation and stakeholder engagement.

Matthew Custance, Headteacher, Floreat Wandsworth Primary School and Nursery, said: “Being part of a larger family of schools means our students, staff and families benefit from extra resources and support in many areas. It also means we can share our collective expertise and experience. It’s been great to have Warwick at our school this week to talk through our vision and plans for the future.”

Warwick Sharp, CEO, GLF Schools, said: “Joining GLF Schools feels like coming full circle, from the classroom to Whitehall, and now to leading a multi-academy trust that puts students, staff and communities at its heart. Meeting the many people with superb skills and experience in our schools makes me genuinely excited about what we can achieve together, working with brilliant schools, dedicated colleagues and real ambition to deliver an excellent education to all our children and young people.”.
