West London gets a taste of Sweden with new immersive experience

An immersive experience giving visitors a little taste of Sweden is arriving in West London on the 24th of February.

To celebrate the launch of ‘Livat Hammersmith’, the new and improved Kings Mall, visitors will be treated to a unique, multi-sensory experience, featuring snowy winter scenes as well as projections of the Northern Lights – so they can feel like they are on holiday, without even leaving London. Guests will be able to relax within the pop-up space, all whilst enjoying the classic smell of pine forests.

The unique experience will run from 11am to 8pm every day until the 5th of March, and is completely free to attend. For those who want to embrace the Swedish way of life even further, a series of talks on the concept of ‘Lagom’ and how to live a more sustainable and simple lifestyle (in partnership with IKEA) will be available to pre book online.

The event is designed to celebrate the Grand Opening of ‘Livat Hammersmith’, the newly transformed Kings Mall offering the community a vibrant space to meet, eat, relax and spend time – alongside a brand new IKEA store – the brand’s first ever small-format store on the UK high street.

To mark the launch, a series of other free events and activities will be taking place within the meeting place every day from 24th – 27th February.

Thursday the 24th February will see the kick-off Grand Opening event, featuring musical performances from local professionals – including a steel band and ABBA tribute band – and pop-up mocktail bar, all of which can be experienced whilst enjoying entertainment from a colourful parade of stilt walkers running through the streets of Hammersmith throughout the day.

Friday 25th February will become ‘Feel Good Friday’, offering informal talks on mental wellbeing, advice from life coaches and the opportunity for a time of reflection to create your own heart of important things in your life. There will also be bookable wellbeing classes focused on mindfulness, breathing and simple stretching for relaxation and feeling at your best. Wellbeing is so important, especially in the current climate, which is why this event will provide customers with simple and easy ideas on how they can improve their own wellbeing day to day.

Families will also be catered for, with the ‘Family Funanza’ on the 26th providing a place for families to come together, spend valuable time and enjoy a sense of community – just as LIVAT Hammersmith will. Visitors can expect to be met with face painters, magicians and superheroes, as well as being able to spend time with Wildlife expert Nick Barker who will be on hand to teach them about all the exciting bugs, insects and animals they can find in and around the green spaces within Hammersmith. To top off the day children will be able to make their own biodegradable slime before being part of a teddy bears picnic full of tasty treats.

To finish the weekend off – and celebrate the heritage of the legendary Lyric theatre which sits directly next to the centre – there will be a display of some costumes and show memorabilia in a unique pop-up gallery. Visitors will also get the chance to get involved in the action using a green screen photo opportunity that will put you at centre stage. Not only will there be artefacts for the past, the Lyric theatre will also be showcasing some of their Little Lyric children’s shows – which you won’t want to miss!

There really is an event for everyone and there will also be chances for visitors to win prizes at all stages through the ‘Spin to Vinna’ – a Swedish game based on the classic ‘Spin to Win’ game.
