London’s school students are invited to unlock their creativity once again for the return of Hyde Park Winter Wonderland’s School Art Competition. The annual competition offers students the chance to showcase their imagination and win fantastic prizes too. This year’s theme is Dragon Takes Centre Stage!, and Winter Wonderland is calling young budding artists to design the most amazing dragon they can imagine.
The theme of this year’s competition is inspired by Gandey’s K-Pop Dragon Circus. Produced by Gandey World Class Productions, the circus show will make its dazzling London debut exclusively at Winter Wonderland this festive season. Combining the vibrant energy of K-Pop with the wonder of world-class circus artistry, the all-new programme is an immersive, family-friendly experience for visitors of all ages.
Young artists aged 4-14 are encouraged to design a dragon they can imagine joining the new circus team – will they sing, dance, fly or breathe festive glitter? All entries will be judged by an exciting panel of judges, including La Loka the mischievous clown, Mariska Gandey, one of the Directors of Gandeys Circus, as well as award-winning author and illustrator Harry Woodgate, author of Cinnamon Crumb. The judging team cannot wait to see the children’s creative artwork.
Entries are open now, with only one month for schools to submit their artwork until the competition closes on Wednesday 14th October. Twelve winners will be handpicked, and their magnificent drawings will be proudly displayed at this year’s Winter Wonderland, transforming their creations into a part of the festive magic for all to see. Winners will be announced on 26th October.
There are multiple prizes up for grabs. Bronze winners will receive a certificate and a book from Usborne, with silver winners also receiving tickets to the event, the Magical Ice Kingdom presents Neverland and Gandey’s K-Pop Dragon Circus. Finally, Gold Winners will be lucky enough to bag four tickets to the event’s preview Night, a £250 art supply voucher for their school and Winter Wonderland official merchandise.
To participate, students must create their artwork on the official A4 Hyde Park Winter Wonderland Art Competition Canvas and send in the post. All entries must include the artist’s name, age and school name, and each participating school must complete a consent form.
