To celebrate International Woman’s Day, BOXPARK Croydon has teamed up with feminist arts and culture platform, Polyester Zine for a live debate and ‘all-womaxn’ panel made up of artists, activists and entrepreneurs.
With this year’s #IWD theme exploring individuality and collective activism, this special evening will take place on Tuesday, 10th March and explore what place we can all have in creating a more equal world.
Kicking off with a live recording of their namesake podcast, Polyester Founding Editor In Chief Ione Gamble (ig: @ionegamble) will be sitting down with artist and Queerty ‘Game Changer of 2020’, Wednesday Holmes, to discuss their work, the causes close to their heart, and what they’ve been obsessing over in recent months.
This will be followed by a panelled discussion with fine art student specialising in self-expression- Rene Matic, Founder of BamBamBoogie Dance Fitness – Bami Kuteyi, and more panellists to be announced, on the pros and cons of taking an individual or collective approach to activism. Can personal perspectives really change the systems that fail us? Or is finding strength in numbers the only way forward?
To get everyone in the mood for this epic line-up, BOXPARK Croydon presents a limited edition International Womxn’s Day cocktail menu, inspired by iconic women throughout British history, including Purple Rain (Emilie Pankhurst), Noughts & Crosses (Malorie Blackman), Union Jack (Charlotte Cooper), and Rum Punch (Claudia Jones).
The panel event will take place at BOXPARK Croydon (Terrace Area) on Tuesday 10th March. Doors will open at 7pm, with the event starting at 7.30pm and finishing around 9pm.
