Young people in Camden are welcoming friends, family, and anyone local to Camden to come and experience their redesign of the 02 Centre on Finchley Road at a community event they’ve organised.

Over 40 local young people have been working with a team of local architects to transform the entrance of the O2 Centre and create a new ‘hangout’ space on the first-floor atrium. The young people have also been feeding into the design of the future of the area which is being redeveloped as part of the 02 Masterplan proposals.

The open event on Saturday 24th September, which has been planned by the young people themselves, will give young Londoners the chance to enjoy the space and meet other young people from the area.

The first 100 attendees will be able to enjoy free food from local restaurants and take part in workshops from the London Wildlife Trust, Camden Arts Centre, and 2-3 Degrees.

Landsec, who own the O2 Centre, has invested over £250,000 in working with young people over the past year and partnered with 2-3 Degrees to give them a voice on the future of their area.

Azzees Minott, Director at 2-3 Degrees, said, “We’ve worked with these young people for almost a year now. It’s been great to see their confidence and skills grow throughout the programme; their ideas and creativity have led to the transformation of the entrance and Hangout space on the first-floor atrium of the O2 Centre. They’ve always wanted to leave a legacy for the community to use, and this event will be a great showcase for other young people and their families to enjoy – along with food, activities, and local entertainment.”

Timothy Trillo, Development Director at Landsec, said, “Young people have been crucial to the redesign of the O2 Centre, and we are thrilled to host this celebration of their efforts. The centre will remain open during the first phases of planning and development, so our goal is to make sure the centre remains vibrant and relevant for everyone in the community throughout the process.”

The event is open to young people of all ages and their families. It will take place between 12 pm and 4 pm on Saturday 24th September at The Atrium, O2 Centre 255 Finchley Rd, NW3 6L.
