On the evening of Sunday, September 9, one of the most anticipated British films of the year comes to the big screen for one night only. In what is sure to be the hottest ticket in town, the Genesis Cinema in London will host the star-studded world premiere of The Krays: Dead Man Walking, the new film from prolific production company Hereford Films.
We’ve been chomping at the bit to see this movie and we know you have too, which is why we thought we’d share our top five reasons for why you should get in on the action and snap up a ticket to the world premiere.
Yes, you read correctly: you, too, can join the cast and crew and celebrity guests in attendance at this exclusive red carpet event as a limited number of tickets have been available to the public. They’re expected to go quick, so don’t wait around if you want to catch the film on the big screen. Tickets are on sale here.
1. The location
The Genesis Cinema is located in the heart of London’s historic East End. What better place could there be for the premiere than the real-life old stomping grounds of the legendary Kray Twins! If only those streets could talk…
2. The stars
Hereford Films are renowned for their red carpet events and the celebrity guests who flock to them. The premiere will undoubtedly be no different, so this is your opportunity to really rub shoulders with the stars. Not only will the amazing all-star cast and crew of the film be there, but the event will be a veritable who’s who of celebrity.
3. The glitz and glamour
The premiere will be a classy black tie occasion so this is your chance to dress to impress! With the gents suited and booted and the ladies all glammed up, the Genesis Cinema may have a bit of a ’60s vibe on September 9, which couldn’t be more appropriate!
4. Seeing the movie on the big screen before it’s out
This will be the only opportunity to catch The Krays: Dead Man Walking on the big screen, so what better occasion to see it than at the glitzy world premiere? The film hits DVD and digital platforms on September 10 and it’s available to pre-order here, so you can truly be one of the first people in the world to see it.
5. The film
The best reason of all, of course, is the film itself. There have been numerous movies about the Kray Twins over the years, but they’ve all told the same story over and over. What’s different about The Krays: Dead Man Walking is that it focuses on one of the lesser known chapters in the notorious brothers’ lives, centring around violent convict Frank Mitchell (dubbed ‘The Mad Axeman’ by the press), who, with the help of Ronnie and Reggie, finds himself on the run from the police. His escape from prison sparked what was, at the time, the biggest manhunt in British police history. The new film tells the story of how Mitchell spent his time as an escaped convict under the shadow of the notorious twins. It’s violent, it’s gritty, and it’s right up our street. Hereford Films have been responsible for some of the best British crime films of the last decade, from Vendetta to We Still Kill the Old way, so we know we’re in for a good time.
See you there!
