A leading catering specialist has been named as an approved caterer for Royal Museums Greenwich, making an impression with its green ethos.
Royal Museums Greenwich, which is located within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Maritime Greenwich, comprises Cutty Sark, National Maritime Museum, Queen’s House, Royal Observatory Greenwich, and the Peter Harrison Planetarium.
The historic collection of museum and gallery spaces provide standout settings for a variety of events including corporate events, weddings, and special occasions.
Its executive team has been working towards the venues becoming carbon neutral and one area the group examined carefully was its supply chain, which led to independent caterer Seasoned securing a three-year contract.
Seasoned’s impressive green credentials include sourcing 85 per cent of its ingredients from within a 50-mile radius.
The company also ensures its events are carbon neutral thanks to its partnership with the Woodland Trust. Seasoned calculates how much carbon dioxide is created by the number of people attending an event and then pays to plant trees in ancient woodland to offset the impact.
In addition, the company does not use mineral water at its events, and uses bottles made from recycled glass which are then sent for recycling.
Colin Sayers, Seasoned’s Managing Partner, Events, said: “We understand that clients are keen to stage carbon neutral events and we can support their endeavours through our own commitment to minimising the impact our business has on the environment.
“Event catering is no longer just about the dishes served and the service on offer – clients rightly expect us to take the issue of environmental impact seriously.”
Royal Museums Greenwich showcases pioneering architecture, British art, and scientific discovery and exploration.
Colin added: “Royal Museums Greenwich is an amazing portfolio of properties. These distinctive venues are infused with history and provide fabulous spaces to host truly memorable events. As a partner caterer for Royal Museums Greenwich, we’re very much looking forward to working with future guests and clients at these beautiful venues.”
Claire Bastin, Head of Events at Royal Museums Greenwich, said: “Royal Museums of Greenwich are delighted to welcome Seasoned as an accredited caterer. The tender process was thorough, and competition was fierce however Seasoned impressed in all areas. Their commitment to achieving carbon-neutral events and new initiatives on sustainability were outstanding and align with our own vision and values to combat climate change”.
The partnership is the latest collaboration for Seasoned after it signed a five-year contract with Merlin Events to provide management and catering services at some of London’s most popular attractions.
This latest collaboration with Royal Museums Greenwich will see Seasoned offer its Michelin-inspired bespoke menus packed full of fresh, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients for an array of events and functions.
