Residents, team members, family, and friends came together at Signature at Hendon Hall to celebrate Muriel Bloch’s 100th birthday.
Guests were treated to a lively Elvis tribute performance while a special visit from the Mayor of the London Borough of Barnet added further distinction to the occasion.
Born in the East End of London, Muriel was the eighth of ten children in a close-knit family of five sons and five daughters. She grew up in Willesden Green, recalling a happy childhood filled with fond memories. Muriel later became a hairdresser and successfully owned her own salon before retiring at just 32 to care for her son during a period of ill health. Once her children were grown, she dedicated her time to voluntary work, continuing her lifelong passion for helping others.
Muriel, who still enjoys spending time with others, playing card games, keeping up with family via social media, and listening to classical music, reflected on her proudest achievement: “Bringing up my family has been my greatest accomplishment.”
Home Manager Orla Green shared her admiration for the much-loved resident:
“It has been an absolute privilege to celebrate such a significant milestone with Muriel. She is a truly inspiring lady with a wonderful spirit, and it was heartwarming to see so many people come together to honour her life and achievements. Days like this remind us how special our community here at Hendon Hall really is.”
