CHESSINGTON NAMES NEW SQUIRREL MONKEY BABY ‘RAINBOW’ IN HONOUR OF THE NHS

Today, Chessington World of Adventures Resort is excited to announce the birth of a new baby Bolivian squirrel monkey, Rainbow.

Born at the height of ‘lockdown’, Rainbow has spent the last two months bonding with Mum and Dad at the Surrey Resort. As Chessington’s new addition is still very young, the resident vet won’t be disturbing the family just yet, so guests will have to wait a little longer to learn the gender. Though Rainbow may be the latest addition to the troop, Chessington also celebrated the birth of two more Squirrel monkeys during ‘lockdown’, Mateo and Dorado – it’s safe to say the trio are becoming fast friends!

Oliver Whiteway, Zoo Opertations Manager at Chessington World of Adventures Resort, commented: “We’re thrilled to announce the birth of our new healthy baby Squirrel monkey, Rainbow. The naming process was a no-brainer for us – rainbows have become a symbol of hope during the COVID-19 pandemic and we’ve all been so proud of the work our NHS carers have done and continue to do.”

Chessington is offering a number of tickets for UK frontline and key workers as part of Merlin Entertainments ‘Big Merlin Thank You’, a scheme which is donating 30,000 tickets as a global initiative to allow NHS, social care and emergency service staff to spend a day out with their loved ones at the Surrey Resort. Tickets have been made available via Blue Light Tickets and donated directly to key organisations who have seen their frontline essential workers continue to work throughout the pandemic.
