Child-friendly borough and homeless accommodation inspire judges at London planning awards

A homeless accomodation in Haringey and a Child-Friendly Borough Supplementary Planning Document in Hackney were among the plans, projects and people recognised at this year’s RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence in London on the 14 July.

Sphere25 was awarded best project for its nomination for Olive Morris Court, Homeless Accommodation, which supports 32 homeless people within Haringey, with on-site support and management, and 16 homes being gifted to the Council.

Haringey Council were awarded the Chair’s Award for Growing Up in Hackney: Hackney’s Child-Friendly Borough Supplementary Planning Document. NTR Planning scooped the prestigious Small Planning Consultancy of the Year Award for “demonstrating strengths in all areas”.

Jules Pipe, Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration and Skills, said: “Planning excellence is essential to the Mayor’s vision to build a better London for everyone – a safer, fairer, greener and more prosperous city for all Londoners. It was an honour to attend these awards and to see at first hand the incredible calibre of projects and people within planning and the development industry.”

Other winners on the night include Oscar Wong from Aktins, who won the prize for Young Planner of the Year and Jenifer Jackson, Chief Planning Officer for Richmond and Wandsworth SSA, who won Head Planner of the Year.
