The Favourite, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, takes a step back in time to 18th century England during a battle between the French. Starring Glenn Close as Joan Castleman, a loving and devoted wife to novelist Joe (Jonathan Pryce), The Wife is a powerful and moving story about womanhood and liberation. Directed by Bjorn Runge, this film captures the essence of self-discovery and sacrifice. Glenn Close’s performance steals the show, having won Best Actress at the Golden Globes and is also nominated for the same prize at the Oscars this weekend.
