Winning the Best Screenplay (Motion Picture), and Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) at the Golden Globes and Mahershala Ali winning Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes and BAFTA’s – Green Book is set for success at the Oscars this weekend. Directed by Peter Farrelly, the film focuses on the unique friendship of the world-class pianist, Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), and his chauffeur Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen) in the racially-charged deep south of America.

The Favourite, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, takes a step back in time to 18th century England during a battle between the French. A tale of friendship between Queen Anne (Olivia Colman), Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz) and Abigail (Emma Stone), this periodic comedy has been nominated for ten Oscars, including Best Motion Picture. A stellar performance from Olivia Colman also landed her Best Performance by an Actress at the Golden Globes and Best Leading Actress at the BAFTAs.

Starring Glenn Close as Joan Castleman, a loving and devoted wife to novelist Joe (Jonathan Pryce), The Wife is a powerful and moving story about womanhood and liberation. Directed by Bjorn Runge, this film captures the essence of self-discovery and sacrifice.
