Local charities, groups and individuals are being invited to apply for grants of up to £2,000 for community-led projects, from Peabody Community Foundation’s Kerslake Awards fund.
The fund supports initiatives that bring people together, reduce isolation and improve wellbeing in areas where not-for-profit housing association Peabody has homes and services.
The funding round is now open and closes on Friday 5 June.
What does the fund support?
The fund is open to projects that offer either regular activities, clubs or one-off events which help people live healthier, wealthier and happier lives.
They might:
· Bring neighbours together and build stronger community connections
· Reduce loneliness and isolation
· Support children and young people
· Get people active and improve physical or mental health
· Help prevent homelessness or support people at risk
Previous funded projects have included a wide range of community-led activities, from sports and fitness sessions and after-school clubs to creative projects, choirs and oral history initiatives, alongside intergenerational activities, support groups and community gardens.
Supporting communities
The Kerslake Awards were launched in 2024 in memory of Peabody’s late Chair Lord Bob Kerslake, whose career in public service focused on improving people’s lives.
The fund continues that legacy by supporting local ideas that make a difference in communities. It’s run by Peabody Community Foundation, the charitable arm of Peabody.
Each year, £40,000 is available to support local projects across London and the south east, split across two rounds of funding – one in spring and one in autumn. At least 10 projects are funded in each round.
