Madame Tussauds London opened its famous doors to the Royal Family’s favourite four-legged friends as they got a first look at the attraction’s new The Royal Palace experience, which opens to the public from tomorrow (Tuesday 28th March). The brand-new experience will allow guests to go beyond the gates of Buckingham Palace and get a sneak peek into Royal life in this historic Coronation year.

A patriotic pack of corgis were cordially invited to enjoy a VIP tour, where they roamed the regal hallways of The Royal Palace, whilst giving their paws of approval to some very familiar faces, including a magnificently, re-dressed figure of King Charles III.

The monarch, who will be coronated on 6th May, has been given a stunning update to honour the opening of the new experience. Continuing its centuries-old legacy of painstakingly dressing Royal figures, the Madame Tussauds London team has paid homage to the outfit His Majesty wore for the first-ever State Banquet of his reign, in November 2022. The attraction’s wardrobe team spent 140 hours finessing King Charles III’s new look, working with medal specialists and collectors to ensure no detail was forgotten, from his nine miniature medals and diamond Lesser George medal to the insignia of the Order of the Garter.

The corgis’ exclusive first look included a poignant and heart-warming moment, when they spotted the late Queen Elizabeth II, whose figure has been reunited with the late Duke of Edinburgh in the new experience. Their figures are joined by other historic members of the Royal Family, including Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth I.

In addition to rubbing shoulders with The King and Queen Consort and the Prince and Princess of Wales in the Throne Room, visitors to The Royal Palace will get to pose with afternoon tea in the Royal Drawing Room or mingle with some of the Palace’s most notable celebrity guests. Nestled among the British Royals are acting and sporting royalty including Sir Mo Farah and Dame Judi Dench, whose figures have also had a regal redress befitting of the new experience.

On the opening of The Royal Palace, Tim Waters, General Manager at Madame Tussauds London, said: “If you want to get close to the Royals and get a true sense of what it feels like to be part of the British monarchy, then this is a totally unparalleled experience. We all know the place corgis have in the heart of The Royal Family, so it seemed only fitting that we invited these cheeky, charming canines for what was a ‘pawsome occasion’.

“In a year that sees the official start of a new chapter in the history of the British Monarchy, Madame Tussauds London is giving our guests the opportunity to get closer to the Royal Family in a fun and immersive way that only we can offer.”

Guests will have the opportunity to step into Royal life when The Royal Palace opens to the public from Tuesday 28th March. Book your tickets here: www.madametussauds.com/london/ .
