Throughout October, DLD College London is celebrating Black History Month with a dedicated art exhibition showcasing the creativity, achievements and cultural contributions of black creative artists.

Exploring the richness and diversity of Black artistic expression, the exhibition examines themes of identity, heritage, representation and belonging. It features works by influential artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Hurvin Anderson, Frank Bowling, Deborah Roberts and Chris Ofili, alongside the work of the late playwright Bonnie Greer. Together, these artists offer a range of perspectives that encourage the college community to reflect on the stories, experiences and ideas that shape our understanding of the world.

More than a celebration of artistic excellence, the exhibition provides an opportunity to recognise the voices and histories that have helped shape, and continue to influence, our shared cultural landscape.

James Kidd, Executive Principal at DLD College London, commented: “At DLD College London, we believe art has the power to challenge perspectives, inspire curiosity and bring people together – values which are central to our school ethos of tolerance, respect, academic curiosity, community and kindness. Through this exhibition, we hope to encourage students to embrace different viewpoints, question assumptions and develop a deeper appreciation of the cultures, experiences and creative voices that enrich our community and shape our wider society. We are grateful to Michael Whitfield for his thoughtful and imaginative curation, which has brought these artists’ work together to create a meaningful celebration of Black History Month.”

DLD College London is hosting an Open Event on Monday 30th November, 9:30am. To register, please visit:
