Ealing Broadway is bringing sport, beach play and family activities to the heart of West London this summer with the launch of Sportropolis in Town Square.

Running from Thursday 16th July until Friday 4th September, the programme of events gives children the chance to get active, learn new skills and make the most of the school holidays, while offering families a summer day out in London without breaking the bank.

Sportropolis kickstarts with the opening of Sportropolis Beach on Thursday 16th July, transforming Town Square into a free summer play space complete with a giant sandpit, sandcastle-building equipment and a deckchair photo opportunity.

Across the wider programme, visitors can also try everything from football-themed games and rugby training sessions with Ealing Trailfinders, to weekly Saturday Sports Club activities, with something for a range of ages and abilities.

Andrew Rollings, centre director at Ealing Broadway, said: “Families are always looking for new and affordable ways to keep children entertained during the school holidays, and Sportropolis has been designed to offer just that.

“With a free programme of sport, play and family activities, we’re creating a welcoming space where children can get active, try something new and enjoy time with friends and family. It’s a brilliant opportunity for the community to come together and make the most of summer at Ealing Broadway.”

Sportropolis highlights at Ealing Broadway include:

Sportropolis Beach (16th July – 4th September): Open throughout the summer, Sportropolis Beach is a free community space where families can relax, play and spend time together. Featuring a giant sandpit, sandcastle-building equipment, and a branded deckchair for family photos, it’s the perfect spot for little ones to get creative.

Jump Serve and Sub Soccer Tables (25th July – 29th August): Families can put their football skills to the test with two free challenges. Jump Serve invites visitors to compete to head the highest ball, while Sub Soccer Tables bring fast-paced, head-to-head seated football to the centre, challenging players to score as many goals as possible.

Saturday Sports Club (25th July – 29th August): Every Saturday from 25th July to 29th August, families can drop into the free Saturday Sports Club between 11am and 4pm, with activities including football freestyle demonstrations, tennis-inspired games, martial arts taster sessions, target sports, team games and rhythm and movement sessions.

Family rugby fun with Ealing Trailfinders (31st July – 21st August): Taking place 12pm – 3pm every Friday from 31st July, to 21st August, children can take part in free training sessions led by professional players from the Ealing Trailfinders men’s and women’s teams. Designed for all ages and abilities, the sessions will help children build confidence, learn new rugby skills and experience what it’s like to train with the pros. Families will also have the chance to meet Bella the Bear, the club’s much-loved mascot, and enjoy photo opportunities throughout the day.
