Ronnie Scott’s Announces Free Soho Street Party Celebrating Grassroots Music Venues

Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club will once again transform the streets of Soho into an open-air celebration of live music this summer, as its annual free Street Party shines a spotlight on the grassroots venues that nurture Britain’s next generation of artists.

Free to attend and open to all, the event is expected to welcome between 1,000 and 2,000 visitors for an afternoon of live jazz, soul, R&B and gospel, alongside DJs, family entertainment and outdoor bars.

First launched to mark the club’s 60th anniversary in 2019, the Ronnie Scott’s Street Party returns to Frith Street on Saturday August 1st featuring performances across two outdoor stages from GRAMMY Award-winning duo Blue Lab Beats, Daniel Casimir Big Band, Shae Universe, Guvna B, Summer Pearl, NEONE the Wonderer, GRAMN., Jackson Mathod, Marlon the Pannist and the Ronnie Scott’s Gospel Choir, bringing together some of the UK’s most exciting artists spanning jazz, soul, R&B and hip hop.

More than a free day of live music, this year’s Street Party highlights the importance of the UK’s grassroots music venue network. In partnership with Music Venue Trust and Save Our Scene, Ronnie Scott’s is using the event to celebrate the independent venues where artists hone their craft, build audiences and begin the careers that take them to stages around the world. Representatives from Music Venue Trust will be on site throughout the day, raising awareness of the challenges facing grassroots venues and the vital role they continue to play within London’s cultural life.

For more than six decades, Ronnie Scott’s has championed emerging talent alongside the world’s greatest jazz artists. The Street Party continues that tradition by taking live music beyond the club’s walls and making world-class performances freely accessible to everyone.

Fred Nash, Managing Director of Ronnie Scott’s, said:

“Every artist starts somewhere. Before the festivals, the awards and the headline tours, there are independent venues where musicians can experiment, find their voice and connect with audiences for the first time. Those spaces are absolutely essential to the health of British music. The Street Party is our way of opening Ronnie Scott’s up to everyone. By bringing free live music into the heart of Soho, we want to celebrate the incredible artists performing today while also recognising the wider network of grassroots venues that helps make careers like theirs possible.”

A spokesperson for Music Venue Trust said:

“The UK is home to one of the most vibrant grassroots jazz scenes in the world, with venues providing vital spaces for artists to develop their craft, experiment, collaborate and connect with audiences. Ronnie Scott’s has inspired generations of musicians and music lovers, and we’re delighted to be part of this street party celebrating not only an iconic venue, but the extraordinary grassroots culture that continues to keep jazz alive and thriving across the UK.”

This year’s line-up reflects the breadth and diversity of today’s UK music scene. GRAMMY Award-winning duo Blue Lab Beats have amassed more than 84 million global streams, while award-winning bassist Daniel Casimir is one of the defining figures of Britain’s contemporary jazz movement. They are joined by acclaimed R&B singer Shae Universe, triple MOBO Award winner Guvna B and a host of emerging artists spanning jazz, soul, R&B and hip hop.
