Freemasons’ Hall to host performances of pieces by Vivaldi, Bach and Mozart

The Belmont Ensemble and Trafalgar Sinfonia have released more dates for a series of concerts at Freemasons’ Hall from February to November 2022.

The first half of the year was a success, with thousands of people enjoying dozens of concerts. Belmont Ensemble and Trafalgar Sinfonia have now prepared some new performances for the second half of the year.

The first concert will take place on Saturday 9 July at 5:00pm and 7:30pm. Being performed on the night are: Vivaldi – The Four Seasons by candlelight; Albinoni – Adagio; and Vivaldi – L’Estro Armonico Concerto No 2 (First Movement). A special concert will also take place Saturday 23 July at 5:00pm, with pianist Gunel Mirzayeva performing Mozart and the Moonlight Sonata by candlelight.

On Saturday 30 July at 5:00pm and 7:30pm, Belmont Ensemble and Trafalgar Sinfonia will perform Vivaldi – The Four Seasons by Candlelight; Bach – Air on the G String; Pachelbel – Canon in D; and Handel – Arrival of The Queen of Sheba. On 27 August at 5:00pm and 7:30pm, the public will be able to enjoy Vivaldi – The Four Seasons by candlelight; and Albinoni – Adagio.

A special treat is being prepared for 3 September, at 5:00pm and 7:30pm. The public will experience Magnificent Movie Music by candlelight, a musical feast including gems from films and TV programmes including James Bond, Downton Abbey, Pirates of the Caribbean, Schindler’s List, Game of Thrones, Love Actually, Psycho, Platoon (Barber – Adagio), The Mission (Gabriel’s Oboe), Rocky (Eye of the Tiger) and much more.

On Saturday 10 September, pianist Gunel Mirzayeva will perform Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, plus music by Mozart and Rachmaninov. On Saturday 17 September at 6:00pm and 8:00pm, Belmont Ensemble and Trafalgar Sinfonia will again perform Vivaldi – The Four Seasons by candlelight; Albinoni – Adagio; and Vivaldi – L’Estro Armonico Concerto No 2 (First Movement).

Magnificent Movie Music by candlelight will be performed again on 3 October 5pm and 7:30pm. While on Saturday 15 October at 5pm, pianist Costas Fotopoulos will perform Beethoven – Moonlight Sonata and music by Mozart and Rachmaninov. On Saturday 22 October at 5pm and 7:30pm, audiences will enjoy a performance of Vivaldi – The Four Seasons by Candlelight, Bach – Air on the G String, Pachelbel – Canon in D, Handel – Arrival of The Queen of Sheba.

To conclude the performances before Christmas celebrations, the Belmont Ensemble and Trafalgar Sinfonia will perform on Friday 18 November at 6pm and 8pm. The selection of gems are Vivaldi – The Four Seasons by Candlelight, Albinoni – Adagio, and Vivaldi – L’Estro Armonico Concerto No 2 (first movement).

The Grand Temple at Freemasons’ Hall, located in the heart of Covent Garden, will host the combined group of some of London’s finest musicians. While enjoying the concerts, the audience will also be able to experience the splendour of the Grand Temple, including the majestic organ with its ornate pipes and the stunning mosaics surrounding the ceiling. Built in the centre of the splendid art deco Freemasons’ Hall, which was designed as a pentagon to suit the irregular space in which it is located, the Grand Temple is rich with multicoloured details of blue, gold and white.
