SHOPPERS visiting the High Street at Walton-on-Thames were delighted to join in the summer fun and celebrations when their locally owned and run hearcare centre hosted an all-day Summer of Sound event with a focus on hearing health.
Laura Smith, audiology director at Specsavers Walton-on-Thames, explains: ‘It’s not just older people who may be suffering in silence with hearing loss, but also younger people too.
‘We’re seeing a number of younger customers visiting us with hearing concerns, so we therefore wanted to raise awareness of safe hearing levels and hearing health. We also invited customers who already use hearing devices to try out the very latest options available via Phonak who joined us for the day.’

Supporting the Summer of Sound experiential day were stilt walkers who posed with passers-by, and the Specsavers Big Ear mascot who entertained younger visitors and handed out goodie bags with trolley key rings, pens and information about ear wax removal and hearing services.
Former Mayor of Elmbridge, Mary Sheldon, and her husband John also visited the store, having first been VIP guests in January 2020 when Mrs Sheldon officially launched the Specsavers Walton-on-Thames Hearcare Centre.
The store has a dedicated audiology centre, offering customers a state-of-the-art room equipped with the latest soundproof technology and specialist audiology equipment.
Free hearing checks are also available to customers and are a quick and efficient way for the team’s hearing experts to assess their hearing and identify whether they may benefit from a full hearing assessment.
