Human Appeal, one of the UK’s leading humanitarian charities, is hosting a series of fundraising galas throughout September to support the charity’s vital work supplying life-saving aid such as food, shelter and medical supplies. The events will bring together two of cricket’s most renowned stars: former Pakistan captain and commentator Waqar Younis, and the Sultan of Swing himself, Wasim Akram – both of whom have taken a combined 1,705 international wickets between them.

These exclusive, black-tie events will consist of a delicious gourmet dinner, a live Q&A with Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, as well as a charity auction of signed memorabilia, giving cricket fans the chance to meet two sporting legends in a VIP meet-and-greet.

Each night will also include a presentation from Human Appeal on its latest ‘Thrive with Dignity’ impact report, highlighting support for over 7.3 million people affected or displaced by conflict, food and water scarcity, and limited access to education and healthcare.

The ‘Sultans of Swing’ gala events aim to bring together communities across Birmingham, Manchester and London for three nights of inspiration, fun and generosity, in support of those around the world who are in real need of attention and aid. Every ticket purchased and pound raised at the live auction goes directly to Human Appeal’s global humanitarian emergency programmes, providing food, shelter, medical aid and protection to the world’s most vulnerable.

Razwan Faraz, Associate Director of Fundraising, Human Appeal UK: “We are honoured to have two cricketing heroes not only attending this fundraising event but also championing our message at Human Appeal – that anyone, no matter where they are, deserves the right to food, water, shelter, healthcare and education. The funds raised will bolster our mission, and it will be fantastic to be in a room with like-minded individuals, passionate about the values of our charity and of course, cricket.”

Tickets are now on sale, starting at £50.
