Landmark Piccadilly pub retraces its steps to unveil its new style and identity for 2022 and beyond

A new chapter is unfolding at a much-loved and iconic pub in the heart of Piccadilly as it is renamed, The Coach House, to celebrate the area’s Regency Period of coach travel.

The grand four-storey pub on Oxendon Street, which was The Comedy, has had a long and colourful past and this latest renovation promises it has a bright future ahead, providing food, drink and entertainment to Londoners and visitors.

It is very much business as usual for the historic pub as it will continue to serve its regulars, locals, theatre goers and tourists throughout this refurbishment. There’s new signage outside, together with period artwork and décor on the ground floor of the pub, heralds the arrival of The Coach House.

With records dating back to the 17th century, the area has a long affinity with coach houses, places for rest and refreshment before travellers embarked on long journeys. This tradition of a warm welcome and outstanding hospitality, of course, continues today with a great range of food and drinks for all to enjoy. There are popular pub dishes to suit all appetites and diets and the bar is well-stocked with local, national and internationally known drinks.

The Coach House General Manager Iain Bowman said: “There is a real sense of warmth and tradition here. Pubs are the original social meeting place and few have stood for as long as The Coach House so we are proud of this history and heritage. It’s the perfect place for a drink and a meal, a catch up with friends, family and work colleagues or to watch live sports with fellow fans. There is a friendly atmosphere with good old fashioned, traditional pub values mixed with today’s quality and comforts. It has a wonderful history and a great future ahead where plenty of memories can be made and stories told! Come in and see for yourself. Here’s to the next 300 years!”

The pub is an unbeatable place to watch TV sports as the cellar sports bar receives a new look – a true hidden gem in central London. Meanwhile, the function suites on the upper floors have been renamed The Wellington Suite and The Nelson Suite. These can be booked for functions, parties and business events. The Coach House really makes a lasting impression on guests – it is history in the making. Ask at the bar or check the website for further details.
