One in four (25%) drivers in London have admitted to having road rage every time they get behind the wheel, according to new research.

The statistics form part of a wider study by car finance company Zuto who have conducted research to find out what annoys drivers in the UK the most, before looking at the cities where people experience road rage the most.

The things that frustrate drivers the most differs from city to city but in London, people find “cars getting too close behind you” (48%) and “late/no indicators” (43%) to be the things that annoys them the most.

When looking at roads specifically, potholes have come out on top as the biggest annoyance for drivers in London (52%), this is followed by speed bumps (30%) and high traffic roads (32%).

Research also looked at which car brands each city finds the most frustrating on the road, and in London, drivers find those with a ‘BMW’ to be the most annoying (16%).

Biggest annoyances

With over half of UK drivers agreeing (52%), the pet peeve that annoys people the most is “cars getting too close behind you”.

Drivers also get angry when others use late or no indicators, with 50% of people selecting this as one of the pet peeves that annoys them the most.

Boy racers, who are often fans of driving fast and aggressively, are another annoyance for many, with these individuals providing rage for 48% of people.

Not only do other drivers frustrate us, but certain aspects of the roads themselves also contribute to our rage. Potholes frustrate over half of UK drivers (60%). This is followed by speed bumps, which annoy almost a third of us (30%).
