London volunteer Seyi Bakare from Romford has been named as the winner of the Inclusion Award by the pregnancy and baby loss charity Sands.
Seyi received a signed certificate from Sands’ Chief Executive Clea Harmer and will be presented with an engraved trophy in her community.
Seyi was nominated by people in her community for her ‘inspiring leadership in championing inclusive bereavement support, particularly within African and Caribbean communities, and for her unwavering commitment to ensuring every family feels seen, supported and understood’.
Seyi Bakare said:
“Giving back and being able to support and serve others has always been a core part of me.
“Being a befriender is also my way of parenting my angels in the most meaningful way I can.”
Sands’ Chief Executive Clea Harmer said:
“Volunteers like Seyi have a huge impact on bereaved families in their community every single day. Seyi’s compassion, leadership, and consistent support which has strengthened Sands’ work with African and Caribbean communities.
