Get Licensed, the UK’s leading booking agency for the security industry, has appointed Nick Herbert (Lord Herbert of South Downs), former Minister of State for Policing and Criminal Justice, as their new Board Advisor.

Lord Herbert assumed the position at the start of April 2021. His responsibilities will include offering strategic advice and guidance for the growth of the security staffing business.

Get Licensed’s mission, to “help good people earn a decent wage and find work”, will be supported by Lord Herbert’s experience, helping to promote the company on a national scale.

Lord Herbert’s appointment comes at a crucial time for the security industry, with recent reports revealing that there is currently a shortage of security workers in the UK. To date, Get Licensed have helped over 300,000 people obtain their SIA Licence and are now expanding to security manpower supply. Advances in the agency’s technology will help security companies fill shifts and get security workers into consistent employment.

Lord Herbert commented: “I am very excited to become a part of Get Licensed. The company has built a great reputation, growing from a two-person start-up to a five-star rated business, and clearly has huge further potential.

“The demand for security workers will continue to grow, and it will remain important that they operate to high standards. By helping people get the training they need, ensuring vetting and compliance, Get Licensed has a really positive role to play in the future of the security industry.”

Shahzad Ali, CEO of Get Licensed, said: “We are delighted to welcome such a knowledgeable board advisor in Lord Herbert, carrying his experience through to our business. With pandemic restrictions and new regulations being further security measures to consider, the need for more trained security workers is crucial.”
